RV, ADV and NV are the primary pathogens responsible for acute infectious diarrhoea. All three present with clinical manifestations including vomiting, diarrhoea and fever.

RV is the leading pathogen causing autumn and winter diarrhoea in infants and young children, with an incubation period typically ranging from 1–3 days. Severe RV infections are most commonly observed in infants aged 6 months to 2 years, particularly those who are undernourished or immunocompromised.

ADV infections occur sporadically throughout the year, with a general incubation period of 2–21 days, and predominantly affect infants under 2 years old.

NV is highly contagious and prone to triggering outbreaks in collective settings such as schools and nurseries, with an incubation period usually lasting 1–2 days.

1. Combined testing enables rapid confirmation of the causative pathogen, facilitating the targeted formulation of prevention and control strategies, effectively reducing cross-infection and avoiding missed diagnoses and misdiagnoses.

2. Combined testing covers the primary viral types that affect core susceptible groups including children and the elderly.

3. Rapid combined testing (with results available within 15–20 minutes) is suitable for on-site screening in resource-limited areas, and serves as a key tool for the prevention and control of acute infectious diarrhoea in primary medical institutions.
